Working Against Violence for Everyone
Working Against Violence for Everyone builds a safer Petersburg by addressing the root causes of interpersonal violence through fostering community-wide prevention while providing comprehensive survivor-centered advocacy for all who are affected.
We believe that violence is an unacceptable way to deal with problems and that people have the right to be free from violence in their homes and communities. We believe there should be a place where anyone can go to be safe and explore their options.
Advocacy and Prevention are two pillars of our organization's mission to create safer, healthier communities.
In Advocacy, we prioritize the well-being of individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking, offering compassionate support and empowerment. Our dedicated team provides a safe space where survivors can access guidance and resources to navigate their journey towards healing and justice. Our 24/7 crisis line ensures that support is available whenever it's needed most.
In Prevention, we focus on equipping individuals and communities with the tools to proactively address and prevent abuse. Through engaging school education talks on personal safety and other relevant topics, we empower individuals of all ages to navigate the world with confidence and awareness. Our acclaimed Stewards of Children training program further empowers adults with the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Additionally, our Tide Turners initiative, led by passionate middle and high schoolers, promote unity and awareness within schools, fostering a culture of support and respect.
Together, our Advocacy and Prevention services work hand in hand to build a future where every individual can thrive in safety and dignity.
